The Basilica of San Lorenzo in Lucina returns to its original splendor

Among the side chapels are the eighteenth-century baptistery, the work of Giuseppe Sardi, and above all the Fonseca chapel, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, with the marble bust of the client, work of Bernini himself. In the chapel of St. Francis you can admire some paintings of the caravaggesco French Simon Vouet.

The Chapel of St. Joseph (so-called from the painting of St. Joseph by Alessandro Turchi, still existing), formerly the Chapel of the Princes Ottoboni Dukes of Fiano, family of Pope Alexander VIII, who had it, with Papal Brief, in “perpetual concession” (it is still visible, at the top of the entrance, their coat of arms).

The restoration work sponsored by Urban Vision and carried out between 2003 and 2004, brought back to its original splendor the ancient roofs, executed to perfection by a restoration company specialized in monumental works.
